HKFYG X Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2022
Well-Surfing
According to the Digital 2022 Global Overview Report, there are over 4.95 billion internet users, which is 62.5% of the total population. People are inseparable with the internet in this digital era. For young people, internet may serve as a platform to explore and construct their social identity. Yet opportunities always tag along with risks, inappropriate and excessive use of internet may lead to negative consequences, imposing adverse effects on mental wellness.
All-round wellness is interrelated. Digital Wellness is one of the key elements for the all-round wellbeing of young people. In order to arouse public awareness on the importance of it, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) is pleased to launch the second “HKFYG X Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2022 – Well-Surfing”.
Since 2012, UNESCO has organized Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week which called for stakeholder’s action, including educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, non-governmental media technology companies, and the public to advocate MIL education for all.
The theme of UNESCO Global MIL Week is “Nurturing trust: A Media and Information Literacy Imperative”, focusing on trust and solidarity while urging further actions on media and information literacy among different sectors.
Echoing the UNESCO Global MIL Week, the HKFYG is going to roll out various activities not only at schools but also the community as a whole, to joint hand in nurturing a positive and encouraging cyber world.
